By surrendering to a life of total dependence on God, they took constant risks to strengthen the church in Eastern Europe.

The secret police controlled all aspects of people's lives through terribly harsh methods. Facing this lack of freedom to live as a Christian soon led Alex to long for a better life. The only way out was to try to escape the cruel regime.
